Hayley (starr/sprite) is a textile artist based in Colorado, working primarily in soft sculpture and garment construction, with painting, video, and installation as other recurring mediums. Her work builds a strangely cute, partly abstract universe of symbolic characters and recurring symbols, borrowed from reality and stitched together from salvaged fabrics. Through it, we can fabricate the world we want to live in instead of the one we’ve been handed.

The same ideas run through her garments, also made under the name ‘starrsprite’. Each is one of a kind, built from found material with patchwork, embroidery, screenprint, vinyl, and hardware, and inspired by dark fantasy, texture, and layered styles.

Her work has been exhibited nationally, including a solo show at Meow Wolf’s Convergence Station, and group shows at Steuben Gallery in Brooklyn and local galleries such as Black Book, Temple, and Dateline. Hayley holds a BFA in painting and sculpture from Metropolitan State University of Denver (2020) and works from her home studio.
