Hayley's (or her alias “starr/sprite”) work focuses on creating a whimsical, partially abstract, dissociated world with primarily soft sculpture and garment construction. She encourages viewers to engage with a world that is reminiscent of reality in 3D, with symbolic characters and distinctive symbols...honing the notion that we can "fabricate"(literally) which ever microcosm we would like to be in, opposing the not so favorable one we are sometimes handed.

She primarily works within soft sculpture and garment fabrication. Painting, video, and installation are also mediums she frequently incorporates.

Hayley is based in Colorado, & currently works out of her home studio. She graduated in 2020 with a BFA in painting & sculpture from the Metropolitan State University of Denver.

Her business Starr Shoppe uses found material to create one of a kind garments adorned with fabric patchwork/embroidery, screenprint designs, vinyl cut outs and hardware findings inspired by dark fantasy, nature, and peculiar shapes and textures.

Besides making art, I love to play video games, update my website, go down research rabbit holes, visit local art/music shows, be outside, & explore new places on earth.

I just turned 30 and idk what im doing l o l…for right now I just know that I love making people happy with my creations and im very lucky to get to do it almost everyday. I try not to think about the future or the past too much because I think it’s kinda irrelevant anyway.

Id like to have a lizard or fish someday when I have the space for one….id consider myself really introverted. I do a lot of extrovert things for my art though, im getting more and more used to it. ..

im really passionate about mental wellness, and I think it informs a lot of my work. I really enjoy escapism in all forms and think it’s a really magical tool when you use it in the right ways.

to be cont.
